MARSH CREEK EAGLES FOOTBALL AND CHEER

We Are Marsh Creek!

Welcome to Marsh Creek Cheer!

Our MCE family aims to create a positive environment where athletes can be themselves, gain friendships, and have fun, all while learning and perfecting their cheer skills.  We focus on teamwork, self-discipline, sportsmanship, perseverance, and gaining self confidence.  Cheerleaders work on tumbling, stunting, motions, jumps, choreography, crowd leading, and much more.

During the traditional season, our cheerleaders will cheer on the sideline for football games (usually around 6 games) and also learn 1-2 routines to perform at the BuxMont league competition (End of Sept or beginning of Oct).  For competitive teams, if they place for their category and division at BuxMont, they will have the opportunity to advance to Pop Warner Eastern Regionals (End of Oct or beginning of Nov) and possibly Pop Warner Nationals (December in Orlando).

Cheer team categories are based on the Pop Warner age guidelines and the cheerleader's age as of July 31st.  The breakdown of possible cheer teams are as follows:

Non-Competitive Teams
Jr Tiny Mites - Ages 3 & 4
Tiny Mite Exhibition - Ages 5 & 6

Competitive Teams
Tiny Mites - Ages 6-7
Mighty Mites - Ages 7-9

Jr. Pee Wee - Ages 8-11
Pee Wee - Ages 9-12
Junior Varsity - Ages 10-13

Challenger Cheer
Children ages 5-18 years old

Team Placements:
All cheerleaders will be placed on teams in August based on age and the number of athletes registered in the program.

Practice Schedule:
All teams are required to participate in 20 hours of conditioning prior to the start of the traditional practice season.  Conditioning is typically the first two full weeks in August, Monday-Thursday in the evenings.  Following conditioning all non-competitive cheer teams will practice two nights per week. Competitive teams may practice a third day weekly.  August practices are held at Fellowship Fields.  Beginning in September cheer teams will move to indoor practice space upon availability.

What's Included in the Registration Fee?

  • MCE Uniform to keep
  • MCE insurance coverage
  • Field fees
  • Practice location fees*
  • Raffle Tickets - Each athlete will receive $500 worth of Spirit Day raffle tickets that they can sell to offset their registration fee.

*If a team advances to Nationals, additional fees will be collected to cover practice space costs after Regionals.

Spirit wear:
While not required, many of our cheerleaders enjoy the opportunity to purchase MCE Cheer warm-up jackets, backpack, and other spirit wear available throughout the season.

Financial Assistance:
It is our policy to never allow registration fees to prohibit participation in cheer.  If you have a financial hardship and would like to apply for scholarship, please contact Kelly Baxter at [email protected].

Expectations:
Cheerleading is a team sport, the team only succeeds when everyone is in attendance.  Therefore, attendance is expected at practices and games unless there is an approved absence (illness/pre-planned family event).  Appropriate behavior, respect, and sportsmanship is expected at all times.

Traditional and Winter Seasons:
Marsh Creek Cheer participates in both the traditional Pop Warner football season from August-December, and since 2020 we also offer extended cheer through the winter from January-April. During extended cheer athletes will have the opportunity to further develop their cheer skills in a safe and fun environment and will participate in 2-4 competitions throughout the season.

MCE Challenger Performance Cheer
The MCE Challenger Performance Cheer program, new in the 2020 fall season, is led by an experienced Marsh Creek cheer coach who also has a daughter with special needs.  Challenger Performance Cheer, for children ages 5-18 years old, will offer those with special needs an opportunity to participate in both sideline cheer and to learn an exhibition cheer/dance routine with the option to perform at the BuxMont Pop Warner competition. These athletes, with help from “buddies,” will learn all aspects of cheer and also have the opportunity, if desired, to cheer with the Marsh Creek cheerleading teams on the sidelines for select tackle football games on Saturdays.  No prior cheer experience is necessary, and participation from all levels of physical ability is welcome and encouraged!

The MCE Challenger Performance Cheer program registration fee is $200 and registration will be available online on the Marsh Creek Eagles home page. Practices will be held 1-2 days a week August through November.  This is not a competitive team, and your level of commitment is up to you and your athlete. This program will aim to teach lessons of value that extend far beyond basic game play or spirit activities.  Challenger Performance Cheer participants will learn the basics of athletic body movement, awareness and strength, as well as teamwork, concentration, friendship, leadership, sportsmanship, confidence, and to just have fun and enjoy the moment…skills to carry with them for life.

What's Included in the Registration Fee?

  • A MCE uniform provided to each participant to keep
  • MCE insurance coverage
  • Practice space
  • Pop Warner National Registration Fee ($10)

Athletes interested in this option should register on the Marsh Creek home page for the “MCE Challenger Performance Cheer” program. If you have questions or are interested in volunteering, please contact Kelly Baxter at [email protected]. Participants are welcome to register for both this option as well as the Marsh Creek Challenger Division – Football & Cheer.
