The Marsh Creek Eagles Jr. PeeWee 105lb team # 2 improved= to a record of 4‐0 with a hard fought victory over the Lenape Valley Indians, 19‐6 on the Indian’s home field.=

Both tea= ms entered the game with no losses and as expected, it was a tough contest. As they have done so many times this season, the Eagle’s offense wasted no time moving the ball downfield on their first possession behind great blocking by Colby Burke, Max Savidge, Charlie LaShell, John Toler, Michael Clarke, Matt Holowsko, Tuck= er “Rolex” Rolen and Alex McPherson. After a series of nice runs by Dan Chisena, Will Umberger and James Meyer, the Eagles mo= ved deep into Indian territory. The Eagles went to t= he air and Michael Risser threw a perfect strike to Da= n Chisena for a 20 yard touc= hdown play. The extra point was good on a fine second effort run by James Meyer a= nd the Eagles went up 7‐0.<= /o:p>

The Eagl= e’s defense, which coming into this game has not allowed any points, faced their toughest challenge yet. The Indians showed great blocking and had a trio of running backs that were tough to bring down. The Eagle’s defense behind Matt “Sasquatch” Geary, Joe “Big Foot” Fetzer, Colby Burke, Will Umberger, Bobby= Seefeldt, Matt Boorman an= d John “JT” Toler had their hands full on the Indians first drive, as the Indians drove the ball downfield and into the end zone to tie the game. The extra point pass attempt was intercepted by James Meyer and the score was Eagles 7, Indians 6.

On the n= ext series, the Eagles starting from their own 25, knew they had to put some po= ints on the board since the Indians showed they could score on a normally stingy Eagles defense. After two penalties moved the ball back the Eagles own 5 yard line, and faced with second down and 30 yards t= o go, it didn’t look good. But, showing great composure under pressure, the Eagle’s offense electrified the crowd when Michael Risser hit Dan Chisena on= a perfectly executed pass play and Chisena gallop= ed 95

yards to score the Eagles second touchdown of the day. The extra point attempt failed and = the Eagles went up 13‐6.<= /o:p>

Just bef= ore the half, the Indians once again moved the ball well on the ground and went deep into Eagle territory with a minute to go before halftime. Facing a fou= rth down and goal at the Eagle’s 15 yard line, the E= agle’s defense held and time ran out. At halftime, the score was Eagles 13, Indian= s 6.

This stop before the half by the defense was just what the Eagles needed to restore t= heir confidence on defense and energized their play in the second half. Hard hits and strong pursuit held the Indians on every drive in the second half. Many defensive players contributed to the fine effort in the second half includi= ng Matt “Sasquatch” Geary, Adam Gripton, Matthew C= larke, Dan Chisena, Alex McPherson and Ryan Schmitt.

The Eagl= es needed one more score to insure victory. In the 4th quarter, with about 4 minutes to go in the game, the Eagles started a drive on their own 20 yard line. Good runs by James Meyer and Michael Risser moved the ball to a first down, but penalties = backed the Eagles up and they faced a 3rd and 21 from their own 20 yard line. Turning the ball back to the Indians<= /span> this deep in their own territory would have spelled certain disaster for the Eagles with only a 7 point lead. The Eagles went to the playbook and surpri= sed the Indians with a running play off the right side, and behind great blocking, Dan Chisena scor= ed his third touchdown of the day, as he outran the defenders on an 80 yard run to= the end zone. The point after kick was just short and Eagles went up for good, = 19‐6.
